Man charged with speeding wrong way down busy road head-on into bus, injuring passengers

A man has now been charged months after a shocking crash between a bus and an SUV that injured several people on Gold Coast.
A A Jeep Cherokee is traveling the wrong way on a busy street before crashing into a bus with 12 passengers on board, according to police.

Police said the SUV driver lost control and crashed into the oncoming bus on Brisbane Rd at Biggera Waters just before 7pm on March 5.
CCTV footage showed the jeep crossing the wrong side of the road and crashing head-on into the bus.
Several passengers on the bus were taken to hospital, including a 46-year-old woman with a significant leg injury as well as pelvic and neck pain.
The driver of the SUV was also injured and taken to hospital.
Emergency services said at the time they were “amazed” no one had died.
Police said a 25-year-old Arundel man who was allegedly driving the SUV has now been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death or grievous bodily harm while under the influence of an intoxicant and speeding.
He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates’ Court on June 5.
