Dream Home with Chris Brown: Taeler left fuming as Lara goes on ‘revenge shop’

When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping.
This was the philosophy used by Dream home contestant Lara after budget disputes with competitors Taylor and Elle.
After the last two refused to help Lara and Peter when they needed extra money to finish furnishing a room they were working on, it caused tension.

But Monday night’s episode took a turn for the worse.
Taeler and Elle’s lavish spending meant they needed financial help to buy the two additional lamps needed to complete their entryway.
Instead, Lara took her coworker Rhys shopping at Beacon Lighting and spent big instead of giving the sisters any leftovers from her budget.
Wanting to track how the money was being spent, Taylor contacted Beacon to see if Lara had an extra $180.
But Lara wasn’t coming to the party.
“She came to Beacon to make sure she had leftover money, which wasn’t going to happen,” Lara said in an on-camera interview.
“They didn’t come to save us,” she added with a shrug.
When Lara’s lighting expenses were totaled, she still had $360 in the kitty, but said she needed it for lamps.
She had enough to help Rhys with garden lights, but when it came to Taylor, she said she “can’t help a brother.”
Taylor watched as Lara ran around the store grabbing items, including a fluorescent green cactus lamp.
“Do you really need a fluoro cactus?” Taylor fumed as she watched Lara spend her entire budget.
“Do you have any left?” she asked Lara impatiently as she finished her shop.
“I think I actually went over by a couple of dollars,” Lara said.
Outside the shop, Lara and Rhys had a little laugh about what had just happened.
“Snap!” Lara grinned and high-fived Rhys, who was clearly on Lara’s side.
Taylor later expressed her disappointment with Lara’s “revenge shop” but said it gave her extra push to do well.
“When we talk about someone going below the minimum standard for lighting in a hallway, I mean come on!” she said.
“I’m just going to go into problem-solving mode, get our allocation into the budget and make sure we can get out of here unbroken.”
“Those kinds of things are the things that make me want to do really well this week,” she added.
“We want to be like, ‘no matter how much money you give us, we’re still going to beat you.’
Dream Home continues from 7.30pm on Tuesdays at seven and sevenplus.
