Heidelberg West had just one more keeper as Fevola turned back the clock with a dominant performance.
He also shares the field with former Melbourne AFL great Neville Jetta, who played the entire season with the Stars.
“Although the results didn’t go our way, one of the biggest crowds seen at General Chicken Oval in recent times was treated to a players’ day last night with Brendan Fevola and ex-Melbourne star Neville Jetta going head-to-head,” Heidelberg West said after the game.
“Six goals from Fev brought the crowd to their feet, with a number of goals in the final quarter bringing cheers from the home crowd regardless of the score leading to the Stars.
“Although we didn’t manage to win at home, it was a day where the club continued to show how we can really make an impact in the local community by hosting such a great event.”
Fevola’s connection to the Hawks was through the owner of her main sponsor, who played with General Chicken Co boss Nuri Sadiku.
Fevola, the former Carlton and Brisbane winger, has a long list of cameo appearances for local clubs since retiring from the AFL.
He last played in the NFNL when he featured in one game for First Division club Hurstbridge in 2016.
Fevola kicked 623 goals from 204 games at AFL level for the Blues and Lions, but lost his career due to a number of personal problems, including a gambling addiction.
The father of four has been very open about his past struggles and has since turned his life around.
Fevola has been one of Melbourne’s most popular radio hosts for several years.
